Esther Zuckerman New York Times Through a mixture of stunning animation, extravagantly bloody action and heady philosophical questions, "Terminator Zero" breathes new life into a franchise that has often seemed stuck in a time loop of its own. Sep 5, 2024 Full Review Rendy Jones RogerEbert.com The freshly styled anime series takes a particularly long time to boot up an engaging new spin on the Terminator formula. Sep 2, 2024 Full Review Ben Travers IndieWire Terminator Zero deserves some credit for not trying to start over. It’s not a John Connor story, and there’s no Arnold cameo lurking in the finale. But it’s still the shell of a Terminator, rather than the real thing. Rated: C Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Josh Bell New Scientist The animation, from veteran anime director Masashi Kudō, is often dynamic and striking, but it can't make up for the shortcomings in narrative and character development. Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Nuha Hassan Nuha Hassan (Medium) Terminator Zero provides a promising, exciting story with fascinating characters and incredible visuals. It explores the consequences of human choices that turn sour and change the world’s trajectory. Sep 6, 2024 Full Review Jorge Rivera Rubio QiiBO Constantly referencing superior productions like Evangelion and Ghost in the Shell - apart from the original films - doesn't mean your product will turn out just as good. Brendan D ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE OF ANIMATION CARTOON , IF YOUR A T900 FAN YOU WILL LOVE THIS SHOW... IT IS WORTHY AND OH SO HONOURS THE ORIGINAL MIND BLOWING MASTERPIECE... watch it asap Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review Jo R Always fun to delve into the terminator universe. Animation is average. Voice acting and character development becomes unbearable at moments, which detracts from the overall joy of watching the show. For instance, many of the characters pause for overly long bouts of time in indecision during critical moments, which is unbearable and annoying to watch as a viewer. "Kokoro, what are you doing??" "huh?" "what?" "how?" (Let me [the character] sit here for many hours doing nothing and just thinking and being more confused. )The powerlessness, lack of agency by the characters, is very aggravating and grating. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/02/25 Full Review Paul S This was a great entry into the Terminator universe! The story was compelling and thrilling, and the animation was beautiful. I definitely recommend it for sci-fi and anime fans! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/25 Full Review Sérgio N A bit of a shitty final episode, despite the big reveal that Eiko is Malcolm's mother (who, in an act of supreme stupidity, went down the drain). They asked who the father is, but I don't believe it's Kenta's mongo, as mentioned below (he's practically still a child, and she's already quite an adult; not that it's not possible, it's not that, but I didn't think it made much sense, although it was also left open who that "prophetess" lady from the future would be). In the end, Kokoro remained, but still with dubious intentions, in that scene with the Terminator skull (which in the end also turned out to be kind of nice) and we didn't see much more about Skynet. I don't know, it had potential, it had a lot of cool references, several moments of maximum nostalgia, that Japanese vision of the T universe, but I thought it was just that. You didn't achieve great things and you can stay here, you don't need to continue. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/02/25 Full Review LABEL 2 画面素质尚可,剧情真是彻头彻尾的意义不明,穿越时间回到过去的最大功用可能就是让创作者能玩角色之间的伦理哏。这种与时代语境完全脱节的作品到底是怎么通过立项的? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Nitsan F So boring. Mostly conversations about nothing. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
