What to Know

Critics Consensus

A broad spoof of the Black Death teeming with amusing performances, The Decameron's dark streak of humor can border on the flippant but makes for a pretty fun pestilential party.

Valerie Anne Autostraddle By the time the credits rolled on the finale, I was surprised by how attached I had grown to these idiots. Aug 8, 2024 Full Review Robert Levin Newsday The weirdness is welcome, the concept has merit, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Rated: 2/4 Aug 7, 2024 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) It looks gorgeous, but tries to be too many different shows and falls short of each option. You’re left with a talented comic cast, including Zosia Mamet and Saoirse-Monica Jackson, working up a farcical lather. Aug 1, 2024 Full Review Steve Murray ArtsATL The Netflix show is a mess. But it’s also terrifically watchable. Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Jinal Bhatt The Mary Sue One of the most unhinged, cleverly funny, and refreshingly bizarre shows I’ve seen lately. Aug 27, 2024 Full Review Mike Scott Times-Picayune Beautifully shot and briskly paced, it is disarmingly funny stuff, due both to its incorporation of modern language and its great casting Rated: 3 Aug 14, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Judith K This is a series that was designed to shock, rather than illuminate or entertain in a thoughtful way. The terrible script, the ludicrously exaggerated acting by most of the actors, and the interjection of pop rock songs from the last century at random moments are all problems. I think the producers were hoping for the audience and accolades that Bridgerton has received. However, this crew didn't have the talent to pull it off. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/24 Full Review Holly G I SMASHED through this new series. Hilarious, well acted, and stupid, this show will have you laughing and researching the inspiring text, by the end Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/24 Full Review Roberto H While not really an adaptation of The Decameron (more like "inspired by"), this tv show manages to be horny, dumb, deep, nihilist and sweet at the same time. It has great moments, great lines, really dumb jokes, some smart ones, some good and profound takes and overall an awesome cast and soundtrack. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/24 Full Review Audience Member Delightfully different. Well performed. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Corinna K Wild and creatively offbeat, this was a sumptuously entertaining surprise. I loved every mad minute of it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Gail B I find it's lack of self-importance... relaxing. Everyone is just doing their best with a bad situation. It seems emotionally honest.
