What to Know

Critics Consensus

Welcoming as a lakeside vista and occasionally just as placid, The Four Seasons isn't as breezily funny as creator Tina Fey's best work but often just as witty and wise.

Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) Mostly a gentle comedy that sometimes bares teeth. But it definitely has that Fey vibe, which means it’s a pleasure just to spend time in that world. May 27, 2025 Full Review David Bianculli NPR After you've met cute, overcome obstacles and fallen in love, what's next, and what's in store for the next 25 years? "The Four Seasons" may not have all the answers, but at least it asks some of the right questions. May 7, 2025 Full Review Keith Watson Daily Telegraph (UK) The Four Seasons paddles in without ever diving truly, madly, deeply into the troubles bedevilling these charm-free chumps. Rated: 2/5 May 7, 2025 Full Review Bruce R. Miller Sioux City Journal Lines that update the concept still have an Alan Alda/Carol Burnett tinge. The series, in fact, makes you want to see the original just to understand how they finessed some of the rough spots. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 6, 2025 Full Review Robert W. Butler Butler's Cinema Scene Like the film, this eight-part series is consistently funny while tackling some pretty serious themes about marriage, infidelity, the middle-aged blahs and how the hell you’re supposed to support both members in a failed marriage. Jun 3, 2025 Full Review Lauren Veneziani WBAL-TV (Baltimore) The ensemble of THE FOUR SEASONS clearly had a blast making this series together and came with a shocking twist and juicy cliffhanger. Kerri Kenny-Silver is a complete standout. Rated: 4/5 Jun 3, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Sal D Good enough to watch all episodes, but not compelling enough to pay deep attention. There is a level of depth to season 1, but it also feels superficial. While there is character development, it's just enough to make it mesh into a highly believable series - in contrast to the original film. Maybe season 2 will outshine the freshman launch.....time will tell. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/27/25 Full Review Damien S Really enjoyed it, great acting and fun to watch Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/23/25 Full Review Cindy A. I love this. I have to admit I was worried as I really love the original. But in watching this, I did the exact same emotions I did with the original, laughing and crying. Think of it as new and updated. Don’t compare to the original just enjoy! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/25 Full Review Tom M More cringey than funny. More sad drama than rom-com. Mainly couples bickering their way through mid-life crises. The cast has an easy chemistry -- they are very believable as old friends. But the cast and comic talents available are mainly wasted as this is really a plodding and sad drama about when the romance wears off and you've fallen into a rut with your spouse. There is sadness but no redemption or nor particular insights for the characters except that "marriage is hard work". Although there is an occasional funny quip or single bon mot delivered, the tone is mainly one of melancholy. The characters are unsympathetic, except for Claude, played with a sweet charm by Marco Calvani, and Ginny, played by Erika Henningsen who brings an earnest wholesomeness to her character. These are the only two characters who you can root for in this season. The rest are bitter and -- frankly -- nasty to their spouses for most of the show. Watching the show is like being trapped at a dinner party with a couple who hate each other and spend dinner sniping at one another. Check please! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/25 Full Review Ken D everyone who worked on this project should be aggressively embarrassed. boring boring boring. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review Christy N. A good watch. Familiar storylines and comfortable characters. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
