DezTex @FAM23 Jan 14 Season 2 struggles as Ellie does not feel right, and Bella Ramsey’s performance is a big reason why. Instead of portraying Ellie as hardened, restrained, and emotionally guarded like in the game, the show presents her as immature and overly reactive. Game Ellie expressed anger through silence and action, which made her obsession believable. In the series, her behavior often feels childish, weakening the emotional weight of her choices and making her character arc less convincing. The show changes how certain events happen, and these changes hurt the story rather than improve it. Important details are altered or rushed, removing tension and buildup that the game handled carefully. New scenes feel pointless, such as Ellie suddenly reaching the Scars island, nearly dying, then simply returning to the aquarium. In the game, every location mattered. In the show, scenes like this feel like filler with no consequences, making the story feel unfocused and weaker than the original. See more Kandy A Jan 13 It was really BAD! Season 2 took a significant nose dive from Season 1. I still liked the genre and the background story and Joel's character was still great with fantastic acting by Pablo Pascal. However the character of Ellie went from dislike to the worst character in any TV show. That wasn't Bella Ramsay's fault, she played it well. But the dialogue and storyline became painful to watch. The teenage angst dropped to unbearable melodrama. That one character ruined the TV show.The cast tried but the writers did such a bad job that they ruined every facet of this story. They are good times, and highligts, but overall, i feel the plot is loosing its density and gets too much centred around 1 piece of vengence type of scenario. Started to scroll faster and faster as s2 was progressing. I spare also the comments on the "love story" that looks so impossed on the script that it quite derails it whatever people think. Hard to believe it reaches a score higher than 90% but the click did not happen. When I compare to Fallout s2, it is a bit night and day. Keep the momentum, expand characters, the story, etc. and no fake "love" story for the sake of ticking the box.
