What to Know

Critics Consensus

Grabbing onto thorny moral questions with its bare hands, The Last of Us' second season is a challenging expansion that retains its predecessor's superb performances and verisimilitude.

The pieces are there, but they’re scattered, unable to form something truly memorable. Go to Full Review

The chemistry between Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal is magnificent... their dynamic has been the heart of the show. Go to Full Review

Often these middle seasons can feel like a weigh station, an impatient stopover until the meat of the work in the final act but The Last of Us gifts the audience with many sublime moments that make it more than worthwhile in the meantime. Go to Full Review

Season two of The Last of Us may run only seven episodes and have a slightly slower pace than its freshman outing, but it remains an excellent step forward for what has been quite an incredible adaptation of the popular video game series. Go to Full Review

It really digs into the nature of one side’s freedom fighters being the other side’s terrorists. The more you stop seeing your enemy as a human with the exact same impulses and motives as you, the less human you become. Go to Full Review

Craig B @Boundsy 1d ***SPOILER ALERT*** While series 2 can't match the lofty heights of series 1, not least due to initially suffering from the loss of Joel early on, the storyline takes an interesting new route focused on the relationship between Elle (Bella Ramsey) and Dina (Isabela Merced). There's still plenty of tension and slick action, but you need to be prepared to accept the change in direction of the storyline, otherwise you may as well save your precious time. See more Robert S. @Robinski0 5d Horrible! Joel is gone and it is getting more boring by the minute… I had to stop watching See more Oğuzhan C @DerKing501 Feb 6 I mean if your Fan of part 2(I was not but that doesnt mean i didn't give it a chance)your not gonna like this See more Alexis L. @SpagooterNooter Feb 6 Bella Ramsay was not able to carry this show by herself after Pedro left. She’s not even a good Ellie, she’s dorky and childish. See more DinLA @DinLA Feb 6 I understand that this is a game; however, they cast a brilliant actor who was the real reason I watched Season One which I thought was a 5 star show. What happens in season 2 turned me off so much that I turned it off. All that was good in season one is all that is bad in season 2. A sad ending to a good show. See more Jonathan S @Jwsasser Feb 5 Clearly, I was supposed to hate Joel and be sympathetic to Abby. I did not play the game so I have no idea how accurate my assessment is, but I took Joel as a complicated character and a study on moral ambiguity and abby as a straight-up villain. Joel was being punished and I was being punished by having to watch. The whole season was a steady decline. I didn't find Ellie to be a sympathetic character either. she just whines and sulks and at least part of anger is about not being a man. The lesbian romance felt contrived. Why is she different from the game character? Just a personal pet peeve: a guitar left exposed to the elements even in a case of in an auditorium for 20 years would not only be unplayable, it would likely be destroyed. The strings would literally rust away and it's almost certain the body would crack and every glue joint would open up. Planting them not once but twice just so Ellie can have musical interlude was stupid. See more Read all reviews
