James Jackson Times (UK) Yet it’s hard to shake the feeling of a tidy limited series being tediously strung out. Rated: 2/5 Nov 9, 2024 Full Review Rachel Aroesti Guardian The Old Man is bursting with puzzling alliances and long-buried secrets -- but the biggest mystery of all is why we should care about any of it. Rated: 2/5 Nov 6, 2024 Full Review Kaiya Shunyata RogerEbert.com If we lived in a culture that was interested in nurturing longer television seasons, perhaps season two of “The Old Man” could reach new heights. In the end, this season shows a lot of promise but ultimately continues to spiral downhill as it goes on. G.J. H Great series! Fantastic writing in the age of bad screenplays. Writers have been trying create acting, instead letting the actor bring the script to an organic natural flow. This series does both, keeping you connected with how the character feels, instead of making the character over-act to the script. It's top of line writing and directing! There's no pretense with fake emotions. Characters are responding like you would in the real world. I love the simplicity. Looking forward to season 3. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Greg H I found this a good enough follow up to S1, evidently there will be a season 3. Yup some of the points made are true, but overall enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/14/24 Full Review Williams B I waited two years for this series after loving the first season, but what a disappointment this turned out to be. While the first season brilliantly avoided genre clichés, I don’t feel the same way about season 2. The pacing is rushed, leaving little time to settle into the story. There are some good elements, but overall, it feels much less fluid. I was hoping for a stronger focus on the theme of family, but instead, it dives back into a conspiracy plot. The emphasis on Pavlovitch, who was barely in the first season, feels forced, and the final twist borders on implausible. The gap in quality between season 1 and 2 is baffling. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review L C The dialogue is on point and the storyline is intriguing enough to make you want to continue to watch, though S2 E1 was a bit slow but worth it once you get past that point. Fantastic acting by everyone to make you get drawn in. I love this and Slow Horses and I don’t know why there’s such a big ratings gap between the 2. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/12/24 Full Review Dave L Season two continues to redefine what you think is going on, reinventing it's self and giving us an intriging story that is well written with an incredible cast..... already wondering where season three will take us ? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review John F I found the story telling and pace of the first season to be fascinating. I looked forward to the second season. When it finally arrived, I tried to love it, but found that the story became an overly complicated mess, drowned in slowly paced SOAP! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews
