What to Know

Critics Consensus

Twilight of the Gods delivers on the godly carnage it promises with vivid animation, although its commitment to Ragna-rocking all the time saps some of its emotional depth.

Nandini Balial RogerEbert.com Whatever you’re looking for from your next adult animation binge—profundity, thrills, shock—you’re not likely to find it from Zack Snyder. Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Angie Han The Hollywood Reporter As a work simply to be looked at, it’s a thing of beauty. Alas, as one to get emotionally invested in, it’s rather more lacking. Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Niv M. Sultan Slant Magazine The series evokes the historical and literary contours of Norse mythology to explore the power of storytelling. Rated: 3.5/4 Sep 19, 2024 Full Review LaNeysha Campbell But Why Tho? A Geek Community Twilight of the Gods is a gloriously complex story of grief, revenge, love, and fate. Snyder and Oliva’s gripping reimagining of Norse mythology captivates with its vivid portrayal of epic battles, storytelling, and dynamic characters. Rated: 10/10 Nov 18, 2024 Full Review Marco Vito Oddo We Got This Covered Zack Snyder's 'Twilight of the Gods' follows a familiar fantasy adventure structure, prioritizing style over substance and failing to explore the most exciting aspects of Norse mythology. Rated: 3/5 Oct 15, 2024 Full Review Callie Hanna FandomWire Twilight of the Gods is deeply imperfect and often meandering, but it's overall a pretty fun ride. DarkBlue P I loved the visuals, the art in the animation and the story line! I like how Thor (normally seen as the good guy) is now the opposite and same can be said for Loki. It is a series worth watching! I love the fighting scenes too :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/13/25 Full Review Kay R One of the best animated show I've watched in a while. I'm obsessed with Norse mythology and this easily scatched that itch. The fight scenes were beautiful and story as well. I'm really hoping netflix pushing for a second season. This show even beat out some of my top animes that I watch. This is a must watch!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/09/25 Full Review Calvin O My main gripe is that almost all characters don't feel fun or intriguing, which especially hurts a show where it's about a team killing gods. Instead the characters are archetypes we've seen many times before, without doing anything new. Plus backstories are there, but lack emotion and/or aren't explored properly, again without anything unique. The relations between the mentioned team are also not explored that well, making big events feel unimpactful as the team doesn't feel as tight as the show tells you. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/27/25 Full Review Seyn T One of my favorite animated shows from 2024. Amazing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/07/25 Full Review Ansh : AJ : Good Series to watch, Great scenes and depressing storytelling focusing how cruel the gods can be. It's very hard to find another shows like this ! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/25 Full Review Tom F The bold art and strong storytelling started off fine, but in the end Zack Snyder’s limited toolbox and problematic world view is revealed.
