Based on Karin Slaughter's bestselling books, the series follows Special Agent Will Trent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. As a child, Trent was abandoned and was forced to endure a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta's overwhelmed foster care system. Now that he is in a position to make a difference, Trent is determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was. His personal motivation and background contribute to Will Trent having the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

Max Gao AV Club It will welcome viewers who have never read the source material, but it risks alienating longtime fans of Slaughter’s books. Rated: B- Jan 4, 2023 Full Review Michael Starr New York Post “Will Trent” is a rare example of a midseason series that would — and maybe should — have been right at home with a splashy fall debut. Jan 4, 2023 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Will Trent quickly emerges as an above-average broadcast TV procedural — even if it’s exactly those structural trappings that so frequently undermine it. Jan 4, 2023 Full Review Debashine Thangevelo Independent Online (South Africa) The story arc is underpinned by powerful emotions of pain and rejection as the characters juggle work and their personal lives. Apr 28, 2023 Full Review Monique Jones Common Sense Media Will Trent is a surprisingly funny and entertaining procedural that makes Atlanta and Gwinnett County as a whole a major character. Rated: 4/5 Mar 25, 2023 Full Review Dustin Rowles Pajiba Will Trent doesn’t even make for good background laundry or cooking television... The cases are so boring and/or convoluted that it’s easy to lose track if you’re not focused, and it’s not good enough to warrant your full attention. Feb 22, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Quite Alright! I'm new to it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review Jennifer M Will Trent is A great show with A fun cast, the Storyline is amazing. Cool seeing Will and Angies pasts in backflahes. Also Will has A cute dog. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/25/25 Full Review Mhallen R Initially, I believed I was watching a series similar to "Monk," a detective show from the early 2000s. However, "Will Trent" proves to be quite distinct. It presents a gripping murder mystery intertwined with Will's childhood backstory and the burden of his painful memories. As the narrative unfolds, various cases are tackled in collaboration with the GBI and APD departments. Although these two departments have a strained relationship due to Will Trent’s candidness about certain officers, the tension between them escalates. Nevertheless, Will’s boss, Amanda, supports him wholeheartedly, recognizing him as the top officer in their department. He is partnered with Faith, Amanda’s best friend’s daughter, a rookie detective and single mom who also grapples with her own anger issues towards Will. I found myself falling in love with this series as it gradually revealed more about Will Trent’s history and his affection for Betty. It expertly blends crime-solving with heartfelt moments, light comedy, and action. Season 3 is still ongoing, and I eagerly await new episodes. You can stream it on Disney+. I highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys crime and mystery. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review CARL W Started out great. Be S2E7 it started going downhill. Very predictable and too much over kill. The acting is not the best. Only the guest performances are good. Will Trent's phony accent is getting worse. Every character having a tragic past is definitely over done. Unbelievable and dark skeletons for every character and overacting in every scene. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/21/25 Full Review Lizel S Absolutely brilliant, sharp and fresh with super likeable characters Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/08/24 Full Review Louise C An enjoyable series with Ramon Rodriguez and Erika Christensen as the leads. They both resonate well with each other and are the backbone of a competent cast. I find the storyline quite addictive. How will this turn out? Series one is really engaging. I look forward to seeing Season Two on Disney+ (Star) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Read all reviews
