Amber Dowling Globe and Mail Alternating between kid and adult perspectives creates a full family viewing experience, with plenty of subtle changes in the background and side characters to look out for as the central figures rotate. Mar 1, 2025 Full Review Jack Seale Guardian Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about... That idea powers Win or Lose, the studio’s latest TV series -- and in the moments where it commits to its ethos fully, it delivers a powerful appeal for empathy with a knowing smile. Rated: 3/5 Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Dan Einav Financial Times Win or Lose proves an apt title for what may be the studio’s most creative, and most controversial, release in years Rated: 4/5 Feb 20, 2025 Full Review Brian Farvour The Playlist Though another season seems unlikely to turn up in Disney’s bullpen, there’s enough, even if just barely, to take us into that realm of curiosity as we wonder how the future might look for those inhabiting the world of “Win or Lose,"... Rated: B Apr 11, 2025 Full Review Wesley Hunt Loud and Clear Reviews Win or Lose is another winner in the Pixar catalog. Rated: 4/5 Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Petrana Radulovic Polygon What makes Pixar’s Win or Lose so memorable isn’t just the splashy, fantastical moments; it’s that because the fantastical elements are in the characters’ heads, the story itself is incredibly grounded, more so than the typical Pixar movie. Jamal B. It’s pretty nice and has interesting characters. I like the unique anthology format and the diverse characters, and how we all get to see what the characters are doing and how it affects championship day. I personally think it’s not bad and worth a watch. You can also see some of the characters doing things in the background which in their episode, you actually see what they’re doing. The plot is pretty interesting. Would recommend the watch, only gave it 4.5 stars because it’s not truly perfect, obviously. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review Ryan H This Pixar series successfully introduces intertwining characters dealing with their own daily pressures through metaphorical visualizations. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/25 Full Review Claydo This show was surprisingly deep and heartfelt. It actually feels like they made this just to entertain people instead of trying to force a message down everyone’s throats. It was a pleasant surprise. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/29/25 Full Review Viv D Incredibly deep story and emotions for each character. The animation is really good and although it can get corny at times, it still really shows the real life stresses and struggles both adults and kids can go through. Last episode and the entire theme of the story circling around the championships was really really good, and characters like Frank, Laurie, and Rochelle are super easy to bond with. Definitely recommend since its pretty short but Pixar should definitely make more series like this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/25/25 Full Review Audience Member Surprisingly complex story, with new and gorgeous visuals of the everyones deepest insecurity in a way that seems incredibly grown up for a a children show. And yet i think and hope that children can get alot out of seen their own emotions presented this way.
