Judy Berman TIME Magazine What sounds like the kind of inessential featurette you’d find on a Blu-ray is actually an insightful two-part history of a TV classic, grounded by a candid conversation... Oct 1, 2024 Full Review Olly Richards Empire Magazine If you think the story of The Sopranos has been told to death, Gibney’s film is a convincing counter-argument. The definitive chronicle of The Best Show Ever. Rated: 4/5 Sep 23, 2024 Full Review Dan Einav Financial Times If nobody watching this will need reminding of Gandolfini’s greatness or Chase’s genius, this is still essential viewing for Sopranos fans. Rated: 4/5 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Bill Brioux Brioux.tv Fagettbout it. The two-part film, streaming now on Max in the US and Crave in Canada, is brilliant. Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Dominic Corry Flicks (AU, NZ, UK) Utterly essential viewing for die hards and new fans alike, Wise Guy: David Chase and The Sopranos lives up to the creative richness of its subject. Sep 20, 2024 Full Review Chuck Bowen Style Weekly (Richmond, VA) “Wise Guy” gives you all the production gossip that you can hope for from a behind-the-scenes feature, and imbues it with a sense of Pyrrhic victory and tragedy. Tori B A bit slower than I'd have liked. Felt a bit like a mesh mosh of too much dialogue at once and then long clips of the show. I would have rather had more interviews and BTS. Also, would have liked more audition clips from our heros. Ending lame. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Patti C For the Soprano’s fan!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/11/24 Full Review Kathy M I Get it Now, The Ending is Perfect Now 🥰 I'm watching it All Again 🥰 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Shari A Not much about Meadow and AJ. Or Janice Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Sal D Nostalgia aside, this two party documentary gave a very intriguing looking into the creative mind of David Chase, many of the actors and team that made The Sopranos so compelling to watch. Despite his telling insightfulness into character development, story development, directing, producing and show running, I now have this sense that Mr. Chase’s lens is quite distorted. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Marc Z If you are like me and can't get enough of the Sopranos this is a really great two part documentary. This conversation with David Chase and the world of the hit HBO Show in the year of the 25th Anniversary is worth watching. There is great footage from the history of the show and a ton of behind the scenes footage from the making of it. There are conversations with HBO Executives, Cast Members, Writers, and people related to the show. I loved the audition footage. The documentary takes the viewer on the journey from concept to creation and more. This is a good documentary and doesn't suffer from the disease of being too long, which many documentaries do.
