Jordan King Empire Magazine A blast from the past with eyes laser-focused on the franchise’s future, X-Men ‘97 is as sharp, shiny, and frankly frickin’ cool as Wolvie’s adamantium claws. Snikt! Rated: 4/5 Jul 11, 2024 Full Review Maya Phillips New York Times Somehow “X-Men ’97” also manages to be a time anomaly, in the best way — both an artifact of the ’90s and a show for this moment, the perfect synthesis of then and now. May 17, 2024 Full Review Alex Abad-Santos Vox Everything about ’97 reflects an affection and thoughtfulness, not just for the Saturday morning cartoon but for the X-Men, too. Apr 10, 2024 Full Review Monita Roy Mohan Stereo Geeks (Podcast) The show’s animation is just gorgeous. The colours, the movement, the details–they added to the immersive experience of the story. The characterizations were stellar–characters who hadn’t been given their due came alive here. Aug 9, 2025 Full Review Jeffrey Harris 411mania The Merry Band of Mutants is back in X-Men '97, continuing from where the original series left off and delivering new action-packed adventures, while also expanding and building on the lore established by the previous series. Fifty T A New Benchmark for Marvel: What a ride! X-Men '97 isn't just a sequel; it's a high-stakes elevation of the original series. The art and animation are consistently fantastic, supporting a season that masterfully tackles grief, political trauma, and the complex nature of Xavier's dream. It perfectly adapted legendary comic arcs like the Genosha Massacre and the epic Operation: Zero Tolerance finale. While the early episodes had some necessary setup, the back half was a relentless, emotional masterpiece, culminating in a near-perfect conclusion. It fearlessly challenges the X-Men's core ideology, making the eventual triumph feel hard-won and deeply cathartic. This season absolutely deserves its high score and sets a breathtaking standard for superhero television. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/02/25 Full Review Wendel L Direção: Bom Animação: Ok Roteiro: Ok Visual: Bom Soundtrack: Ok Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/25 Full Review Joe G Rant time! This show has such good potential, but god awful pacing, sudden shifts in plot, and random forced moments. Almost every ounce of character development is sudden and forced, female characters constantly being put down in favor of male ones, Jubilee's developing maturity from X-Men(1992) being completely sent back so that Sunspot can tell her to grow up. Stupid awful. Magento/Rogue being treated so importantly when no one wants it, sidelining Gambit for it, having Rogue abandon all her morals after Gambits death, because ruin a female characters *character* for a man I guess. And ruin Magnetos character for a completely unwanted ship. EMMA FROST IS IMPORTANT. completely sidelining her character, having her show no grief after being the only intact mutant to survive Genosha, feeling as if her survival isn't even important enough to show in the EPISODE RECAP. Using Maddie's death as an excuse to make Cable sad and bring in that plot, once again fridging female characters for a man, completely ignoring ALL of Maddie's story so that she can be shoved out of the plot as fast as possible. WHY. This show HEAVILY relies on death for shock value, Leech with Magneto, showing Callipso's crying body knowing the morlocks are trapped, Gambit not using his powers from range and driving straight up to Mastermold for no reason, spending a whole moment of redeeming Bastion only to kill him when he's finally reaching for that redemption, once again abusing shock value, abusing shock value for Bolivar Trask's death, Hanks reporter friend, sidelining Ororo so that Forge can obsess over "fixing" her. God forbid she find a solution herself or with her team, let a man do it. It's awful and seems to have forgotten everything that happened in X-men(1992) considering Mister Sinister goes against everything her did against the Phalanx, to do exactly what the Phalanx were doing with Bastion. This show better have a major turn around in season two or it's just purely unwatchable. Its only a three because I love Jean Grey and I have hopes for season two bringing in Kitty, Emma, Magik after them being shown in the end of season one. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/13/25 Full Review Mal G exactly like it has been called, a really great show. hopeful for future seasons but worried a bit due to swaps on creative side Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/30/25 Full Review 승리 임 You know what, I really love this.
