Abi Morgan
A gifted and prolific British playwright and screenwriter, Abi Morgan did not develop an interest in writing until she was at university and that reportedly only came about after deciding that she lacked the talent to be an actress. Once she found her voice as a writer, Morgan authored several award-winning plays and would receive further acclaim for her television and film screenplays. In addition to her ability to consistently create intriguing, well drawn characters, she displayed particular insight when examining the challenges faced by young women from various backgrounds. Very adept at depicting race and cultural relations, and the human stories arising from them, Morgan was widely praised in her home country and came to the attention of American audiences via the awards buzz generated by her screenplays for "Shame" (2011) and "The Iron Lady" (2011), making Morgan one of the more revered up-and-coming screenwriters on either side of the pond.
