A bittersweet romp about new beginnings with another sparkling turn by Renée Zellweger, Mad About the Boy gracefully closes the book on Bridget Jones' diary.

I found Mad About the Boy tonally strange, and it left me feeling curiously depressed. Go to Full Review

Underneath pratfalls and slapstick moments is a more mature, poignant movie about moving on after the devastating loss of a loved one. Go to Full Review

Despite all the repeated gags and such, it’s charming—and more emotionally vulnerable than many of its counterparts. Go to Full Review

As expected, no one doubts the ultimate romantic pairing and fortunately dalliances allow for a ridiculously appealing wet shirt scene. Go to Full Review

R J Nov 28 Absolute bollocks. Ruined a perfectly good story. Jones is a pathetic character (Zellweger is a shadow of herself). And I know a woman Shouldn’t condemn another woman for her choice to manipulate her face, but…WTF!!?? See more Christina F. Nov 17 Don't waste 2 hours of your time watching this silly, boring 😴 film. Even Emma Thompson couldn't save it. See more Louise K Nov 8 The fourth instalment was a huge disappointment. I have loved the three previous movies, because I found Bridget endearing, vulnerable and unique. In this movie, Mad about the Boy, I didn't see her usual lovability shine through. I found the relationship with Rockster, oh please, what a name, so unconvincing. The dive into the pool to rescue a dog, who was fine, was gratuitous. But it gave the opportunity for all the women in the scene to ogle at him, like they've never seen a bare chest before. I thought Isla Fischer in one of the earlier scenes confusing. Why have her in there if we never see her again, there was no arc or engagement with the character at all. Daniel Cleaver dating 20 year olds, come on. He's a player, but don't treat him like a cartoon character. The scene where Rockster tries to make it up to Bridget, so ridiculous, and as if a young man would say all of that in a workplace, in front of colleagues. The 2 scenes which I thought were good were the scene when she's injected stuff into her lips and is with Emma Thompson, and when she thanks Mr Walliker for helping her son to come out and sing his dad's song. I had been hanging out for this movie on Netflix, but was really disappointed. See more VITALII H Oct 26 I am a big fan of Bridget Jones movies. This one did not disappoint at all, however I think that this one is the least interesting or funny in comparison to previous 3 movies. I really I love the way how lifecycle are portrayed in every movie depending on the age of the cast. By the way, they kept the original cast, which made me so happy. This one is made from a lot more mature point of view. There are several serious topics that make the movie less laughable but more therapeutic. See more Kashgar A Oct 22 I know I’m supposed to like this for old times sake. The critics certainly do. But honestly…it’s twaddle, the weakest link being Bridget Jones herself. Renee Zellweger squints, pouts, gesticulates and pulls faces throughout, and walks like she has piles. The accent is overdone and tired too. All of this on top of a script which is just plain silly, and keeps trying to insert religious belief into the narrative. Very much time to put this franchise to rest. See more Rouva K Oct 3 I'm surprised at how much I liked this, I think Mr Walliker had the best character. It played a bit on the classic style of Bridget Jones jokes, but didn't rely on it, it relied on a few of its tropes in a way that original viewers can feel nostalgic enough. I think Renee Zellweger's accent becomes less convincing in this one. The relationship with Daniel was great, it was delightfully accepting of his flaws and an acceptance that it wasn't meant to be, but the actors and their jokes for their scene aged very well together.
