A bittersweet romp about new beginnings with another sparkling turn by Renée Zellweger, Mad About the Boy gracefully closes the book on Bridget Jones' diary.

I found Mad About the Boy tonally strange, and it left me feeling curiously depressed. Go to Full Review

Underneath pratfalls and slapstick moments is a more mature, poignant movie about moving on after the devastating loss of a loved one. Go to Full Review

Despite all the repeated gags and such, it’s charming—and more emotionally vulnerable than many of its counterparts. Go to Full Review

the film has really let these characters grow into their mature selves. Jones is finally allowed to not be consumed by frivolity, and instead allow the gravity of the film to drive her choices. It is a grown up Bridget Jones. Go to Full Review

As expected, no one doubts the ultimate romantic pairing and fortunately dalliances allow for a ridiculously appealing wet shirt scene. Go to Full Review

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is the perfect example of how to make an excellent sequel that remains true to the original material while also innovating it for the audience who might look for a deeper reflection on these very important themes Go to Full Review

PERCY B @P.BADINAGE 3d Didn't care for the book when it came out years ago, but can't believe the movie could be worse. Very disappointing in every respect including the fact that Rene is 57 and the Rox guy actor is 28. Seriously??? Rene looks like a woman in her 50's and Hugh Grant really looks old. So that's hard to get past, and then there's nothing of a story at all. Cringeworthy embarrassing attempt at humor actually. Fails miserably. See more BJ M @HotMovieStar Jul 3 The acting, and entire story actually, seemed contrived and not authentic. Not true to life and not enjoyable to watch. See more Alyssa B @RT53996105 Jul 1 I don’t ever even write reviews. But I hated this movie so much I felt compelled to. The first two are such favourites to me. The third didn’t live up, but it had some of the soul and humour still. This movie was such a departure I wondered if it were written by AI. You know the story and the ending going into it, and that wasn’t what bothered me. The parts about losing a partner were touching, but I really can’t verbalise how let down I was by the pace, the soul and the humour. I got to just after she hooked up with the young guy and I had to turn it off. Maybe it’s because I’m not her age bracket, idk. In my mind I’ll happily pretend the last two movies don’t exist. See more donnie M @RT64375194 Jun 17 i LOVE the other 3 bridget Jones movies and watch them whenever they're on hbo or showtime and give them 5 stars because 'the cast' works-her friends, her parents, the song choices which are all amazing and and the circumstances and just the way Bridget is as in 'awesome' and she is my all time favorite actress but this movie-BORING and maybe 'woke' is the word-it's like a bunch of jumbled up stuff and if Renee wasn't in it-i wouldn't have kept watching-would be great to do a Bridget Jones 5 with all the great people in 1, 2 and 3 but i'd sure miss Marc Darcy See more pudgy P @Rongreasely Jun 13 Ruined the legacy of the original films. Worthless film See more Vixo S @vixo_six Jun 9 Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy works because it accepts that Bridget can no longer be treated as the same chaotic young woman from the first films. The humor is still present, but the story shifts toward grief, maturity and the need to keep living after loss. That change makes the film feel less spontaneous than earlier entries, yet more emotionally honest. Its greatest strength is the way it allows Bridget to grow. She still carries awkwardness and uncertainty, but now her choices feel more thoughtful, especially when they affect her family. The film is not the funniest in the series, and some attempts to recover the old comic rhythm feel less fresh. Even so, its emotional weight gives it a sense of closure that feels earned. Rather than repeating youthful chaos, it offers a warmer and more mature ending for a character who has finally learned how to choose herself. See more Read all reviews
