The show probably should have hung up its hat a season or two earlier—but it’s never easy to say goodbye, a sentiment that the Stranger Things finale ultimately proved. Go to Full Review

If nothing else, Stranger Things’ operatic exit serves as a reminder familiarity needn’t be a bad thing when executed with such earnest conviction, and that each generation needs -- even deserves -- its own band of heroic nerds to root for. Go to Full Review

No matter how weak the dialogue or how many plot holes you encounter, you’ll always go back for more. This is why it’s so disappointing that the show never quite delivers on its promises. Go to Full Review

Frances B @Fredsaysthis 2h I felt this series had lost its way a little in the midseasons - still very enjoyable but more horror and less of the warm nostalgia this 80s tween/teen got from S1. For me Season 5 redressed the balance. As the horror and stakes escalated the emotional beats hit really hard and the ending gave a pitch perfect send off to the beloved group of misfits. Beautifully done, I can't wait to find out what the Duffer Brothers' next project will be. See more •Dainsleifstoes • @Had3.5 22h Season 5 was total trash. They had 3 years to write season 5 yet they wasted it and used ai slop to write a terrible season. They should be ashamed of their selves for what they did to this amazing show and giving us such a terrible ending and last season. The duffer brothers need to feel shame for what they did to this show. They don’t deserve any praise for season 5. They did terrible on it and i don’t recommend watching it. It’d be better if you only watch from season 1-4 and make s4 the ending your self. S5 was a complete waste of time and clearly they do not care about this show or the actors and used this last season as a money grab. Shame on the duffer brothers. See more QuiK @QuiKei 1d Season 5 began really good for me. Much humor and tense and very good visuals. The finale ruined it all, it showed the writing was awful, a total anticlimax. The more budget the brother had, the bigger the seasons got and the more poorly the writing got. Used to be one of my favorite shows, but the finale ruined it. In the docu they were talking about demogorgon fatigue... I just have no words for that. See more Simon H @Balti 1d Previous seasons were brilliant. This one seemed hit and miss. I can’t say I was a fan of Els story arc ending - uncertainty never works and it felt jarring. The red rock was totally unexplained - where did it come from? And the scientist? - and how did he know it would take over Henry and why would he offer that advice after shooting Henry and getting beaten up? Is there any more and isn’t that a bigger problem than El? Etc Don’t even get me started about the dissonance between soldiers raining down 50 cal munitions upon monsters with no effect but Nancy wheeler shooting a 100ft monster boss with the relative equivalent of a potato gun and it suddenly keeling over See more Adam J @ChipySmith 1d After spending years laying groundwork, introducing mysteries, and coming off a great prior season with lots of fan favorite moments and twists, the Final Season throws all of that away for a quick, simple, and dull finale. The lack of other Demo-monsters alone is enough to lose a whole star rating, let alone the myriad of other continuity errors and production mistakes. If you've ever read an awful thrown together high school paper and said "I wonder what would happen if this person lead a massive show" than this final season is for you. See more Alba Melannie C @Melannie 1d Holly’s plot wasn't unnecessary, but definitely stole too much spotlight from the main characters. Her story worked as a way of "we’re leaving this to the next generation of kids," but we had Holly and Max yapping a lot. It also makes no sense that no one seemed concerned about Holly having an imaginary friend. With everything that was happening, Mike and Nancy should have been seriously worried about that. The script often felt very cartoonish, especially with everyone constantly finishing each other’s lines. It’s also disappointing that we never really get to see the actual reasons why Vecna decided to join the Mind Flayer, we never fully understand his motivations. As for Jancy, it was sad to see them just give up without even trying to fix what were very fixable issues. And yes, Byler didn’t happen, but that’s more of a personal disappointment than a real criticism. See more Read all reviews
