What to Know

Critics Consensus

Genuinely original science-fiction fare from television veteran Vince Gilligan, Pluribus leads Rhea Seehorn through a brave new world with plentiful returns.

Audience Says

Sometimes falling short of its high-concept promise, Pluribus is a supremely original entry from Vince Gilligan whose trademark cinematography remains employed as part of the ensemble.

The premiere hints at many types of extinction events before pivoting to a cataclysm so surprising, it’s useless to guess. Go to Full Review

Vince Gilligan is good with challenging ideas, and poking and prodding his audience into considering another perspective on orthodoxy. Go to Full Review

No matter where you sit on these spectrums, there’s a strain within “Pluribus” that speaks directly to your feelings, much like the disembodied voices on Carol’s phone that cheerily ask her what she needs whenever she picks up her handset. Go to Full Review

Like Breaking Bad and Saul, it is set in Albuquerque, features a thorough exploration of capitalism and what it means to exist in today’s society, and anger. It is entirely predicated on anger. Go to Full Review

5/5
Gilligan skillfully manipulates (and manipulates us, too) tropes, tones, and digressions so that each episode, almost every plot twist, becomes a new and unexpected audiovisual event. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

I F 7h Everything is great. But it is 3 times slower than it should be. It just gets boring. 6 episodes in, and the plot basically did not move forward. The most exiting part of this season was first 15 minutes of episode 1. See more George P. @grock47 9h Very interesting and also entertaining. Horrifying if it was to actually happen! See more Sue B 12h I love Rhea Seehorn's performance, but her character is so annoying. After the first time she killed 11M people with her tantrums, she still doesn't seem to understand how to keep it under control. She gave Zosia heroin & almost killed her. She doesn't care about fair allocation of resources. Sure let's light the whole city of Albuquerque for one person. She is a great example of why joining the peaceful Others/Hive brings more balance to the world. I actually WANT them to change her. IMMEDIATELY. See more Alexander S @raczia2002 15h I love the premise, the main character brings a twist i enjoy. I cant wait to see whatever else they got in store for this show. See more Justin L @leebrex 18h This is such an interesting show premise. I can't wait to see what gets explored in each episode. See more Fifty T 1d Skip This Bloated, Illogical Prestige Flop>> This is not a slow burn; it's a creative meltdown. Having been a devoted fan of The X-Files and the entire Breaking Bad universe, I am genuinely stunned and insulted by the quality of Pluribus. What has happened to Gilligan? I would hate to assume it is early-onset dementia. The series takes 10 min of plot and tortures it across 60+ min episodes, relying on unending stretches of silent walking and moody filler to consume runtime. The writing is illogical (e.g., the arbitrary backyard grave digging or the ludicrous crane accident caused by an emotional swing), treating the audience like they're too stupid to notice the padding. When they finally attempt world-building, the scene is ruined by inauthentic accents. This is a baffling, disrespectful, and unwatchable trainwreck. Was this the result of paid reviews? Because I cannot fathom who watches this and rates it above 2/10. I gave up midway through Ep 2. Hard pass on the entire series. See more Read all reviews
