Andy Romano
Actor Andy Romano got his start appearing in bit parts in several television series during the early 1960s, but is most known for his role as J.D. in the "Beach Party" series of films, which also starred heartthrob singer Frankie Avalon. Romano would reprise his role as J.D. four times in the "Beach Party" series until 1965, when he would return to guest appearances in television series like the western "The Virginian," the supernatural comedy hit "Bewitched," and the crime drama "The F.B.I.." Romano continued to appear in small TV roles during the 1970s in such hits as the war comedy "M*A*S*H*," the police drama "Kojak," and the motorcycle cop drama "CHiPS." More character roles would follow for Romano in the 1980s, with the exception of a larger role in the cop hit "Hill Street Blues," which he starred in from 1982 to 1987. Romano would see more work in films during the latter half of the 1980s and early 1990s with appearances in the screwball sports comedy "Major League" and the Oscar-winning "Bugsy." Romano shifted towards more dramatic roles during the 1990s, when he filled needed character roles in films like the action hit "The Fugitive," the drama "Ghosts of Mississippi," and an eight-episode stint on the crime drama series "NYPD Blue."
