Director Asger Leth is the son of experimental filmmaker Jørgen Leth, and is best known for his critically-acclaimed documentary "Ghost of Cité Soleil," his feature film debut "Man on the Ledge," and for co-writing the Lars von Trier film "The Five Obstructions." His first major work was his collaboration with Von Trier, an experimental film that is part celebration of Jørgen Leth's 1967 film "The Perfect Human," a short that Von Trier was obsessed with, and part prank. In it, the elder Leth agreed to re-shoot "The Perfect Human" five different times, though forced to work around the parameters that Von Trier has set up for him, hence the obstructions of the title. The film became a search for creative validity for the retired Leth and a chance for Von Trier to examine how one of his favorite filmmakers navigated the way through treacherous creative waters. In 2006, Asger Leth directed his first documentary, "Ghost of Cité Soleil," a film about criminal gangs in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, a place that Leth knows well since his father lived in the country for many years. In 2011, Leth made his feature film debut with the twisty crime thriller "Man on a Ledge," starring Sam Worthington.
