C-Murder

Known as a rapper, C-Murder was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1971. He first gained notoriety in the 1990s, as a member of the hip-hop group TRU. His first solo album, "Life or Death" (1998) peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200, going platinum. He made his acting debut in the same year in the movies "Da Game of Life" (1998), a direct-to-video drama, and "I got the Hook-Up" (1998), which got a theatrical release. His second and third albums, "Bossalinie" (1999) and "Trapped in Crime" (2000) were also on the top 10 of the Billboard 200. In 2002, the rapper was arrested in connection of murder and recorded three albums while under house arrest waiting for a re-trial. After losing his appeal in 2009, he was sentenced to life in prison. He has since self-released a mixtape and four albums from prison. In 2018, two witnesses in the case recanted their testimonies, raising questions about the validity of C-Murder's trial.
