Claudio Fäh
Swiss writer-director Claudio Fäh is a self-proclaimed and unabashed B-movie director who admires Dutch provocateur Paul Verhoeven and many of the filmmakers who began as understudies to independent producer Roger Corman in the late 1970s. Fäh, who has directed mostly low-budget action, science fiction and horror sequels, takes pride in his efficiency and ability to deliver effects-laden projects on tight budgets. His first film, 2003's "Coronado," was a throwback to 1980s-style adventure-romance hybrids that featured a globetrotting storyline, decade-defining character actor Jonathan Rhys Davis, and complicated visuals from Oscar-winning special-effects supervisor Volker Engel, who also produced the project. Fäh described the film as "door-opening," as it led him to work for some of his cinematic heroes on multiple direct-to-DVD offerings. He went on to direct the Verhoeven sequels "Hollow Man 2" and "Starship Troopers: Marauders"--the third film in the franchise inspired by influential science-fiction writer Robert Heinlein's novel. For "Marauders," Fäh worked from a script penned by screenwriter, producer and long-time Verhoeven associate Ed Neumeier. In 2009, he executive produced one-time Corman-mentee Joe Dante's adventure sequel "The Hole 3D," then traveled to South Africa with recent action hero Chad Michael Collins to shoot 2011's "Sniper Reloaded," the far-removed sequel to the 1993 thriller "Sniper."
