Actor Cliff Simon was a part of one of the more popular sci-fi television series of the late 1990s/early 2000s, "Stargate SG-1." Simon (who is of Polish and Lithuanian decent) initially expressed interest in pursuing an athletic career--specifically, as a swimmer and gymnast. He moved from South Africa to England, and then back to South Africa again, where he served in the air force. While working at a hotel resort, a stage show production needed a gymnast to help with choreography; Simon assisted, and discovered his true calling. His first professional acting gig was playing the role of Gregory Mitchell on the television series "Egoli: Place of Gold," which would last from 1992 through 1999. Shortly after the dawn of the 21st century, Simon received his best known role, as Ba'al, on "Stargate SG-1," and appeared in various episodes from 2001 through 2007. Additionally, Simon has made brief appearances on other shows over the years ("Nash Bridges," "24," etc.). Cliff Simon died on March 9, 2021 in Los Angeles, CA at the age of 58.
