Edward Ashley
British-born Edward Ashley was an accomplished actor who appeared in many Hollywood films throughout his Hollywood career. Ashley began his acting career with roles in such films as "Bitter Sweet" (1940) with Jeanette MacDonald, the dramatic comedy "Pride and Prejudice" (1940) with Greer Garson and the drama "Sky Murder" (1940) with Walter Pidgeon. He also appeared in the James Stewart comedy "Come Live With Me" (1941), "Maisie Was a Lady" (1941) and the adventure "The Black Swan" (1942) with Tyrone Power. His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like "Nocturne" (1946), the crime flick "The Madonna's Secret" (1946) with Francis Lederer and the Boris Karloff crime picture "Dick Tracy Meets Gruesome" (1947). He also appeared in the Barbara Stanwyck drama "The Other Love" (1947), the Johnny Weissmuller adventure "Tarzan and the Mermaids" (1948) and "Tarzan's Peril" (1951) with Lex Barker. Toward the end of his career, he continued to act in "Macao" (1952), the Elizabeth Taylor dramatic adaptation "Elephant Walk" (1954) and the Danny Kaye comedic adventure "The Court Jester" (1956). He also appeared in "Darby's Rangers" (1958) with James Garner and "King Rat" (1965). Ashley last acted in the comedy "Waxwork" (1988) with Zach Galligan. Ashley passed away in May 2000 at the age of 96.
