Falk Hentschel was a German actor who broke out in the United States in early 2016 when he appeared as Carter Hall on the DC Comic series "Legends of Tomorrow" (The CW, 2016- ). Unlike most young American actors of his generation, Hentschel had a rather trying first few years of his life. Having been born in Soviet occupied East Germany, he fled the communist country with his parents when he was still a very young boy. From there, Hentschel and his family lead a nomadic life, living in various places throughout the world as he learned to speak English, in addition to his native tongue of German. Having always harbored a desire to act, Hentschel's first brush with show business came in the early 2000s when he started appearing as a backup dancer for such big name pop stars as Britney Spears and Mariah Carey. His backup-dancing career had Hentschel traveling all around the world, but it was Hollywood, the creative hub of the movie business, where Hentschel longed to be. In 2003 he decided to take permanent residence in Los Angeles, thus allowing him more opportunities to audition for film and TV roles. He landed his first role as a guest star on the Fox comedy "Arrested Development" (2003-06; Netflix, 2013), and continued landing bit parts, mostly in short films, over the next few years. Then in 2010 he landed his first major acting role as an assassin in the Tom Cruise action flick "Knight and Day" (2010). With his acting career on the rise, Hentschel continued landing big budget movie roles in films like "White House Down" (2013) and "Transcendence" (2014), before appearing as the superhero Carter Hall, also known as Hawkman, on "The Flash" (The CW, 2014- ). Hentschel also played Hawkman on one episode of "Arrow" (The CW, 2012- ), before appearing as the superhero for a third time on The CW's "Legends of Tomorrow." Hentschel appeared in three episodes of the series, which premiered its first season in January 2016.
