George Mitchell was a big screen film actor known for powerful performances. Early on in his acting career, Mitchell landed roles in various films, including "The Phenix City Story" (1955) with John McIntire, "3:10 to Yuma" (1957) and the western "The Wild and the Innocent" (1959) with Audie Murphy. He also appeared in the Burt Lancaster dramatic adaptation "Birdman of Alcatraz" (1962). Mitchell also contributed music to "Naked Alibi" (1954) with Sterling Hayden. His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the comedy adaptation "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" (1964) with Debbie Reynolds, the Steve McQueen western "Nevada Smith" (1965) and the western "Ride in the Whirlwind" (1966) with Cameron Mitchell. He also appeared in the George C Scott crime adaptation "The Flim-Flam Man" (1967). Mitchell continued to exercise his talent in the nineties through the 2010s, taking on a mix of projects like "Bangkok Hilton" (1990-91), "U.S. Open Preview '92" (CBS, 1991-92) and "To Your Health" (NBC, 1993-94). His credits also expanded to "Mistresses" (ABC, 2012-16). Most recently, Mitchell edited the Cate Blanchett blockbuster dramatic adaptation "Cinderella" (2015).
