Axel Z @Axelz 1d Der Film hat mich als Kind sehr fasziniert. Er ist sehr technisch und wenig emotional. Er Spiegelt sehr pragmatisch, bestimmte Denkweisen und den Zeitgeist der frühen Siebziger wieder. Es ist Science-Fiction vom feinsten. Viel Computer Blabla, so wie man sich die Zukunft damals vorgestellt hat. Er ist sehr langatmig, enthält so gut wie keine Action Szenen , man sollte also durchaus ausgeschlafen und fit sein. Die meisten inhaltlichen Sachen fühlen sich plausibel an, bis kurz vor Ende. Das allerdings wirkt ehr als müsste der Film jetzt fertig werden und passt nicht ganz zu dem Rest. A "crystal" that can turn energy into matter at will? At room temperature? Yeah, whatever. Two hours of tedium, then an instant, unseen "solution" to the whole crisis - hey, we'll just wash this alien life form into the OCEAN and it'll be gone! Well, at least they didn't impose a nation-wide LOCKDOWN that crippled the economy and cheated kids out of two years of school, so there's that. Unfortunately, people that saw it a generation later can never experience what it was like in 1971. Sort of like the blues of Robert Johnson. This is a sad problem with film. Forbidden Planet I did not see (I'm 73) and while I've watched it a number of times, I can only imagine how revolutionary it was. The most epic example (for me) was Star Wars in 1978. If you did not see it when it came out, you never experienced the staggering effect it had on individuals, culture - the world even. I don't know if anything was so monumental, considering that I saw when they came out Lawrence of Arabia, Ben Hur, Dr. No and the traumatizing Manchurian Candidate. See more Jonathan O May 19 Heartpounding sci-fi suspense pandemic thriller of the 70's with really strong cast, outstanding adaptation from Michael Crichton novel, great editing and fantastic production design and fantastic cinematography. See more Mark B @Mbindon Mar 21 I remember seeing this in the theater when it came out. At that time it really worked and was an exciting and chilling movie. Watched it now 50 years later. It still worked but as with most movies of the era the pacing was slower. Movie goers had more patient stance. With eyes in 2025 it could have been faster paced, but I feel you would lose the suspense of the original movie. See more Read all reviews
