Hart Hanson
Canadian-American writer and producer Hart Hanson started his career in Canadian television in the early 1990s, working on family series like "African Skies," a post-apartheid drama set in South Africa and starring Catherine Bach, and the troubled-teen series "Neon Rider." Work on more successful series like "Road to Avonlea," a sequel to the popular Canadian TV adaptation of "Anne of Green Gables" starring Sarah Polley, and the financial drama "Traders" followed, until Hanson moved to Los Angeles in the late '90s. Stints on the science fiction hit "Stargate SG-1" and the Jeremy Piven-starring cult favorite "Cupid" led to Hanson's executive producer role on the courtroom drama "Judging Amy." In 2005, he created his first show, the comic-tinged police procedural "Bones." Although the TV series shares the name of its main character, Dr. Temperance Brennan, with the heroine of author Kathy Reichs's best-selling series of mystery novels, the characters and stories actually have nothing to do with the novels; instead, the series is loosely based on Reichs's own real life as a forensic anthropologist. Although Hanson works primarily in television, he has also occasionally worked in film: he was the story editor on the 1994 cult classic "Whale Music," based on the novel by Paul Quarrington, and co-wrote the screenplay for the 1994 Canadian crime drama "Trust in Me."
