      British comedian Jeremy Hardy built a career on the stand-up stage, radio, and television with his left-leaning political humor. A native of Hampshire, England, he began performing comedy after college. He made his television debut on the sketch show "Now, Something Else" (BBC2, 1986-87), for which he also served as a writer. While continuing to work in stand-up, he starred in the short-lived children's show "Helping Henry" (Channel 4, 1988) and appeared with Rowan Atkinson in "Blackadder Goes Forth" (BBC, 1989). He became a regular contributor to British radio, especially with the game show "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" "The News Quiz," and "Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation." He also appeared occasionally on the Stephen Fry-Alan Davies quiz show "QI" (BBC, 2003-). He partnered with fellow comedian Jack Dee on a number of projects, including the television specials "Jack and Jeremy's Police 4" (1995) and "Jack and Jeremy's Real Lives" (1996). His last screen appearance as an actor came alongside Robert Pattinson and Rebecca Pidgeon in the the comedy "How To Be" (2008). Never one to hide his views, he continued lending his voice to a variety of political causes throughout his adult life. Hardy died of cancer on February 1, 2019 at the age of 57.
