Kathleen Battle was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. She appeared in a number of television specials, including "Met Centennial Gala Telecast" (1983-84), "Gala of Stars 1986" (PBS, 1985-86) and "Le Nozze di Figaro" (PBS, 1985-86). She also appeared in "The All-Star Salute to Ford's Theatre" (CBS, 1985-86) and "From Vienna: The New Year's Celebration 1987" (PBS, 1986-87). She worked in television in her early acting career as well, including a part on "Evening at Pops" (PBS, 1969-2002). She also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "Great Moments From the Met" (1989-1990), "Kathleen Battle & Jessye Norman Sing Spirituals" (PBS, 1990-91) and "The Magic Flute" (PBS, 1990-91). Battle's music was most recently used in the action picture "House of Flying Daggers" (2004) with Zhang Ziyi.
