Kevin Hanchard
Though duly skilled in drama and comedy alike, Kevin Hanchard was fated foremost for a career in science fiction. After spending the formative years of his career in biographical pictures and stage dramas, Hanchard found his place in the sun as a member of the small screen's roster of reliable sci-fi performers with the series "Orphan Black" (Space/BBC America 2013-). After breaking out as Det. Art Bell, Hanchard used his newfound aplomb to explore many additional otherworldly projects. Hanchard began his career on the small screen, portraying minor characters in television series like "Due South" (CTV 1994-99) and "Tales from the Cryptkeeper" (ABC/CBS 1993-99). In an early role of note, he played the part of Little Richard in "Hendrix" (2000), a biographical TV movie about rock and roll legend Jimi Hendrix. Hanchard made his big screen debut as a police officer in John Singleton's "Four Brothers" (2005), following this turn up with parts in "Take the Lead" (2006) and "This Beautiful City" (2007). All the while, Hanchard explored a career on the stage. He starred in Toronto-based productions of "Miss Julie" in 2009 and "Topdog/Underdog" in 2011. Additionally, he built up his screen résumé with films like "Family Man" (2011) and television shows like "Suits" (USA 2011-), on which he played a recurring role as the character Colonel Mariga in 2013. That same year Hanchard found his most prosperous gig yet: he began his tenure on the acclaimed science fiction program "Orphan Black" (Space/BBC America 2013-), playing Det. Art Bell, partner of series star Tatiana Maslany's character Beth. Notability achieved through his role on the show led Hanchard to recurring parts on other sci-fi series, including "The Strain" (FX 2014-) and "The Expanse" (Syfy 2015-).
