Kimberly Noel Kardashian was born on October 21, 1980 in Los Angeles, CA. Kardashian was raised in close proximity to the spotlight; when she was 11, her mother Kris married renowned Olympian Caitlin Jenner; three years later, Kim's father Robert Kardashian, a Hollywood attorney, became involved in the heavily televised 1994 murder trial of O.J. Simpson. Kim Kardashian herself became a figure of public notability to appearances on the reality TV series "The Simple Life" (Fox/E! 2003-07), and then to the circulation of her sex tape with her boyfriend, music artist Ray J. Shortly after the latter controversy in 2007, Kardashian and her family members became the subjects of the reality television series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" (E! 2007-). The series furthered Kardashian's renown across media, landing her appearances in franchises like "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC 2005-), all the while showcasing more controversial elements of Kardashian's life, including her confrontations with animal rights activists.
