Louisa Moritz
Born in Havana, Cuba in 1946, Louisa Castro Netto dropped her last name when she moved to New York City to escape the political unrest caused when her distant relative Fidel Castro wrested control of the island. Recognizing that the name Castro would be a burden, she changed her last name to Moritz after the Hotel St. Moritz. She started acting in commercials during the 1960's and landed a supporting role on "The Leslie Uggams Show" (CBS, 1969) before her feature film debut in the satire "The Man from O.R.G.Y." (1970). She played the bubbly buxom blonde in a number of 1970's shows like "Love, American Style" (ABC, 1969-1974), and "M.A.S.H." (CBS, 1972-1983). Her most recognizable role came in "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" (1975), playing the prostitute Rose. She continued to turn up in supporting roles through the mid 1980's, with spots on "The Incredible Hulk" (CBS, 1978-1982) and roles in films like "Under the Rainbow" (1981) and "The Last American Virgin" (1982). An accountant in her native Cuba, Moritz went to law school and became a lawyer once she moved to Los Angeles, finishing in the top of her class. In 2014, Moritz became one of the first women to accuse Bill Cosby of sexual assault and was part of a libel suit against the comedian after he denied the claims. She passed away in 2019, before the suit was resolved.
