Philip J. Sgriccia may be best known for his directorial work on the Primetime Emmy-nominated horror-drama series "Supernatural," but this multi-talented TV man sports a resume rich with quality work in several capacities. Before finding work as a director and producer, Sgriccia started his career as an editor, working prolifically throughout the late '80s on shows like the popular comedy-drama "The Wonder Years," the cult classic sci-fi comedy "Max Headroom," and the tense radio drama "Midnight Caller." On the latter program (of which Sgriccia edited a total 18 episodes), he also made his directorial debut in 1991, with one episode of the show's final season. While that gig may have been short-lived, Sgriccia quickly found other work in the director's chair, working on multiple episodes of the detective drama "Reasonable Doubts" and the acclaimed superhero update "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman." Throughout the '90s, Sgriccia often took on more than one role on a given program, serving as an editor, director, and producer at various times (sometimes during the same show). By the time the new millennium rolled around, Sgriccia had proven himself capable of tackling fantasy-based programs, police dramas, sci-fi, and even comedy. In 2005, he landed his finest job yet with "Supernatural," serving as director, executive producer, and supervising producer, depending on the episode.
