René Echevarria
An American television writer and producer of Cuban descent, René Echevarria is a familar name to fans of sci-fi shows since he has contributed significantly to the "Star Trek" franchise and created the series "The 4400." Echevarria began his career penning episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" during the early 1990s, and, in '94, he switched to writing for "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," also serving as a producer on the show. He was later involved with the short-lived drama "Now and Again" as a writer and producer, and he served in the same duties on the action/adventure series "Dark Angel." In '04, Echevarria debuted "The 4400," a sci-fi series co-created with Scott Peters, and the show ran for four seasons, garnering numerous accolades along the way. He subsequently joined the writing/producing teams of the supernatural show "Medium" and the crime/comedy series "Castle," marking his first extended stint away from the sci-fi genre.
