Stefano Accorsi

While his European good looks and suave smile certainly haven't hurt his career, it's Stefano Accorsi's versatility that has made him one of most popular leading men on the far side of the pond. After honing his theatre chops for a few years, he made a popular splash in the 1996 drama film "Jack Frusciante Left the Band." Based on an Italian novel, Accorsi played the main character, Alex, a rebellious teenager who rejects the values of the middle class. Throughout the '00s, he continued to build his star power in romantic comedies and historical dramas. In the comedy "The Last Kiss (L'ultimo bacio)," he played Carlo, a young man whose feels threatened by impending adult responsibilities when his longtime girlfriend announces she's pregnant. The film was popular enough to inspire an American remake years later. Meanwhile, in the drama "Il giovane Casanova," he played the protagonist of the same name, a dashing charmer who begins an ascent through Venetian high society. In 2006, he had one of his biggest international successes with the '70s-set drama "Blame it on Fidel," in which he played a Spanish lawyer living in France who gives up his job to support revolutionary causes, with significant repercussions for his daughter. In addition to his acting Accorsei has served as a judge at the 2003 Venice Film Festival.
