Critics Consensus

Clichéd, witless and irritating, The Bachelor proves Chris O'Donnell is no Buster Keaton.

Paul Tatara CNN.com "The Bachelor" is as generic as they come, the kind of commercial fabrication that sets up a pair of hackneyed concepts, then runs them in concentric circles until there's enough footage to cut together a movie. Jul 13, 2020 Full Review Lisa Schwarzbaum Entertainment Weekly Just say I don't. Rated: D Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Lisa Alspector Chicago Reader Viewers have almost two hours to become thoroughly disgusted Jan 29, 2010 Full Review Jae-Ha Kim Jae-Ha Kim The premise for "The Bachelor" probably looked great on paper. Get Chris O'Donnell and Renee Zellweger to star in a romantic comedy, throw in a $100 million inheritance plotline and let mayhem ensue! Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 27, 2023 Full Review Kate Pluta Common Sense Media The Bachelor is humorous and entertaining, at first. Unfortunately, the jokes become cliché, and the plot becomes a bit unbelievable. Rated: 2/5 Jul 13, 2020 Full Review Steve Persall Tampa Bay Times O'Donnell's square jaw and clear complexion get plenty of screen time, but not for a second is he believable as a guy with a playboy past. Marcos Vinicius L O filme é sensacional. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Jeff B The only good thing about it is the comedy. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/16/21 Full Review antonis k Silly film with a few laughs and a great cast, nothing that you haven't seen before really, except the wedding i guess and lot's of cameos for no reason too. (5/10) Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review steve d cute and funny. The cast seemed to have a lot of fun with this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked it, I don’t know why such horrible reviews, I found it funny and entertaining. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/11/20 Full Review Audience Member This was probably one of the most formulaic rom coms I've seen in awhile. Despite the supposedly large budget, the script and dialogue were very formulaic and only provided a few funny moments. I guess it's more entertaining than a Hallmark movie, but it's definitely a letdown considering the premise. I kind of felt bad for the actors, because they've all been involved in much better films.
