Just when the initial premise starts to run out of steam, the story pivots into a new realm that manages to excite the audience just enough to satisfy us with its unconventional narrative. Go to Full Review

Creep almost works, but the basic premise is ultimately too flimsy and the identity of the monster too ambiguous to keep our attention for the whole ride. Go to Full Review

Creep is a good time without asking too much of its audience, a film that knows how and why horror works. Go to Full Review

Nov 18 this movie is incredible, so completely underrated, an absolute masterpiece, should be rated over 90% minimum See more chris m Nov 3 You have to like B-movies. The opening credits already signal a B-movie, raw and unpretentious. Despite its extremely simple plot and limited number of characters, 'Creep' manages to stay interesting and entertaining from start to finish. It is neither frantic nor particularly tense, but it builds a steady rhythm that keeps the viewer engaged. The characters are well written and performed, although none of them stand out from the ensemble. Kate, played by Franka Potente, stands out for her perhaps excessive naivety, which shapes much of the narrative dynamics. The setting and atmosphere are strong points: well-executed and immersive, creating a sense of isolation that reinforces the tension. The mysterious character ends up being more “normal” than the story initially suggested, but this does not weaken the narrative; the film manages to convey background and internal logic, leaving the viewer a minimal space to interpret certain details. The ending, evocative and coherent, is reminiscent in tone of 'Possession', closing the story satisfactorily. In short, 'Creep' is a modest but effective work: a B-movie that works thanks to its atmosphere and coherence, ideal for those who enjoy direct horror without excessive artifices. However, the protagonist, Kate, is one of the most unlikeable leads I’ve ever seen in a film. It's hard for me to feel emotionally invested to such when I don't like her character. Unfortunately, the film also loses me in the last 35 minutes. Kate begins making stupid decisions and movie shifts into a more overt "torture porn" direction—something I wasn’t expecting based on the earlier tone. There's some clunky writing and the ending ultimately felt cheap and unearned for me. It's a shame too because I was really invested in the setup but Creep just fails to stick the landing. See more Wayne K Jul 4 Creep is the kind of gory, low budget scare-fest that would have made the rounds in high school when one of your friends taped it when it was on late night TV. It’s not heavy on plot or characterisation, but it gives you exactly what you’d expect in terms of horror elements. There are parts of the story that strain credulity, but it never tries to complicate things so much that it really becomes a problem. Sean Harris makes a real impression as the deformed-humanoid antagonist, and the film does try to give him a tragic backstory, so he’s not just a villain for the sake of it. It has an irritating 4th wall break at the end which in no way needed to happen, but the film is, for the most part, an entertaining horror film that makes the best use of its limited resources.
