Anil Sinanan Time Out It's such a disappointment that the end result is a bland, feeble fable. Oct 20, 2017 Full Review Peter Howell Toronto Star About all that can be said about The Mistress of Spices is that actress Rai manages to retain a straight face while uttering some of the most risible dialogue ever heard in a supposedly serious drama. Rated: 2/4 Jul 28, 2006 Full Review Jason Anderson Globe and Mail Emphasizes the pleasures of scent, taste and touch to a remarkably tantalizing degree. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 28, 2006 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...the film abandons logic and plausibility to such a degree that it quickly becomes impossible to overlook the more fantastical elements... Rated: 2/4 Feb 11, 2007 Full Review Jim Slotek Jam! Movies It's acted with the artificiality of an After School special, the one-note brooding of McDermott especially, and with the endless monologues, the script descends into endless, boring narrative exposition. Rated: 1/5 Jul 28, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member I enjoyed this because even though it has a silly premise, it's interesting to see how something that we use on a daily basis, can be used for other means! Not to mention all the uses for them. The colors are also quite vibrant... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film. I loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member for those who love spices and asian traditional culture Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member film magico e sognante! :) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Ridiculous & stupid, And Rai is kinda annoying Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member aishwarya rai is a beautiful woman and dylan mcdermott is a very handsome man, but i don't understand this movie because the back stories of the characters i found to be confusing and i never understood why tilo, aishwarya rai's character, talks to spices and chili peppers and is forced to give up her "life for spices" when she spots doug, dylan mcdermott's character, a good-looking archeitct with whom she eventually falls head over heels for. although i found this movie to be somewhat confusing, i will say this, i love the tastefully done sex scene between rai and mcdermott. all in all, it's an okay movie, not saying that it sucks, but i give it an average rating.
