Tom M This is 72 minutes of incoherent nonsense. Dissappointing waste of Arthur and McCrea. First clue is when the big joke on McCrea is that Arthur's small child isn't dead in the coffin !? Worst 'screwball' comedy ever. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/21 Full Review Audience Member Joel McCrea stars as a criminologist hired by newspaper editor Thomas Mitchell to provide insight on a series of high profile art thefts. His wild predictions about the crimes prove controversial and he makes enemies. Jean Arthur is an actress hired to help pull an elaborate con on McCrea, who ends up helping him track down the master thief. This is the kind of screwball comedy that lives or dies on the appeal of it's leads, and in McCrea and Arthur it has decent ones that really aren't completely up to the task. It's an entertaining enough film that could have really shined with a better cast. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review kevin w Imagine Sherlock Holmes as an all-American-boy-next-door (Joel McCrea), except arrogant and know-it-all, a reporter, up against Moriarty, an arrogant, know-it-all master thief (Reginald Owen) in this throwaway comedy/detective hybrid. Jean Arthur's the cupcake between 'em. Creme filling. She's good. The piece's not bad, but there's no real zing either. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member good mystry adventure Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member good crime caper movie Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Uninspired in title and not terribly interesting in content, this is still worth seeing for the sparkling chemistry between McCrea and Arthur.
