Spurred on by a colleague's success, four struggling filmmakers (Steve Zissis, Ross Partridge, Greta Gerwig, Elise Muller) endeavor to jump-start their careers. Together, they retreat to a cabin in the haunting back woods of Big Bear, California, where they hatch an idea for a new film -- a horror flick about a guy with a bag on his head who torments people. Anton Bitel Little White Lies it is set in the same indie filmmaking world from which it has emerged, and brings to its character-driven dynamics of love and friendship the barest shades of horror Mar 1, 2022 Full Review Edward Crouse Time Out Rated: 5/5 Nov 18, 2011 Full Review Joshua Rothkopf Time Out Rated: 3/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The Duplass' knowing and self-referential picture defies classification, effortlessly shifting tones from relationship comedy to slasher horror, while always nudging the audience to recognize the film's self-awareness. Davide F Refreshing horror with solid storytelling, good acting and tense atmosfere Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Steve D Ok but you will get ahead of the narrative. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/24 Full Review CJ S I think it's fair to say this isn't anybody's finest work; acting, directing, or writing. Still, if one enjoys the low budget indie drama/horror films the Duplass' are known for, this is quite fun in parts. That Greta Gerwig chick just glows. She's probs gonna go far in the future. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Baghead: a black comedy movie about a group four part time actors actresses who are selfish, juvenile, dull and, worst of all, just completely uninteresting, who isolate themselves in a remote cabin in the woods in order to write a screenplay they will all star in, where they are attacked by a person with a bag over his head. It's a film where drunk, lazy-minded people get together and try to create a movie by writing ideas on a slip of paper and passing it around so others can scribble amendments. Based on the quality of "Baghead," it seems safe to assume this is autobiographical. This movie is terrible, nothing works in it. The acting is bad, and the script is even worse. The basic plotline of the film is tiered to begin with, and it isn't at all frightening or funny. It's relationship movie masquerading as a horror movie that elicits the same amount of laughs as the prospect of attending your mothers funeral would. I seriously regret the hour and a half or so of my life wasted so far watching this pile of shit Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member No idea why it's rated so low - a perfect low-budget indie with a really strong ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Unamazing Duplass Brothers feature is a mix of mumblecore and pseudo-slasher film that only works occasionally.
