Critics Consensus

Listless, crude, and overall uninspired, Coneheads offers further evidence that stretching an SNL sketch to feature length can be tougher than narfling a garthok.

Can you inflate a gimmick-driven comedy skit into a full-fledged feature film? Up to a point. Go to Full Review

Sweet, slight and unjustly reviled in its era, "Coneheads" offers a comically sound sympathy for the immigrant experience that feels quaint now but props up the film in its weaker second half. Go to Full Review

Oz S Nov 20 Coneheads is a light and easy watch, built on a simple plot that never really rises or dips. The familiar cameos scattered throughout add a bit of charm, but they can’t fully compensate for the uneven humor. Many of the jokes land softly, and the robotic, repetitive delivery of the alien characters loses its novelty quickly. Despite that, the film still offers a harmless and pleasant time. It passes smoothly and has a certain nostalgic appeal, yet it never becomes memorable or standout. A nice watch for the background, but nothing more. See more Bill C @nitrocole76 Sep 4 This is my most favorite movie watching when I was growing up and I’m still watching it in my 60s, I love this movie, and Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin did an amazing job and they played their parts to a T and they really impressed me with their talent and how great they are together and I have watched this movie like 300 times and counting, I have this movie on VHS and CD also, so in all this movie deserves a 10. Every actor and cameo is amazing. If you don’t think this movie is hilarious, you need to leave planet earth. “You must knarfle the Garthok!!!” This movie should be at least 65%. Gen Z have no personality or sense of humor and that’s the weight of the score See more Read all reviews
