Toronto Star A dull place doesn't automatically become worthy of scrutiny when a camera lens is aimed at it. Rated: 2/4 Aug 24, 2012 Full Review Adam Nayman Globe and Mail Depending on how you look at it, Darwin is either an affirmative record of proud outliers getting by on true grit or a grim snapshot of a community on its last, buckling legs. Rated: 3/4 Aug 24, 2012 Full Review Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times "Darwin" is a beautiful, elegiac work with unexpected impact and meaning. Rated: 5/5 Aug 19, 2011 Full Review Film4 Staff Film4 Refusing to patronise the participants of his film, Brandestini's use of a chilling score, beautiful photography and a keen sense of balance makes Darwin a fascinating and charming film. Audience Member Monty Brannigan is my grandfather Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member A dull place doesn't automatically become worthy of scrutiny when a camera lens is aimed at it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A beautiful documentary that stands apart What makes Darwin fascinating is its ambivalence: it is funny but moving, disturbing but captivating. It gives you a look into a world you would never experience otherwise: a ghost town populated by a few misfits who each have incredible stories to tell. A memorable documentary that stands out, especially with its stunning music and cinematography! I highly recommend it.
