Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com "Dirty Weekend" is a decent idea for a low-budget movie that never gets past the idea stage, and after a brief while, you may start to question whether it should have been a movie at all, much less a 90-minute one. Rated: 1/4 Sep 4, 2015 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times As always with LaBute's talkathons, dialogue is ever purposeful and oh-so-empty, less indicative of flesh-and-blood people than a dramatist's deliberateness, though Eve and Broderick make the most of their dully comic exchanges. Sep 3, 2015 Full Review Nicolas Rapold New York Times A fairly weak-tea story of conflicted self-discovery that would make for a mildly engaging evening on the stage. Sep 3, 2015 Full Review Aaron Pinkston Battleship Pretension Strangely, to the film's credit, it unexpectedly ends in a quietly complex and sweet place. I don't quite think the slow-stepping plot is worth the outcome, but the consistent tone does pay off. Jan 14, 2021 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Movies with Mae This makes for an intriguing, but unfortunately still very tame and more mainstream kind of film, which is unlike LaBute. Mediocre but leaves more to be desired. Rated: 3/5 May 2, 2019 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews Neil LaBute follows the disappointing Some Velvet Morning with another misfire starring Alice Eve... Audience Member Classic LaBute showing mild mannered people are not quite that and always more interesting (sexually) under the surface. Good performances by Eve and Broderick showing their theatre chops Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I was actually quite surprised... I don't see how this film got such a low rating... Matthew Broderick was brilliant... & Alice Eve was exceptional in her supporting role... not trying to outshine Broderick, just being perfectly complementary. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member good subtle modern comedy and a bit of a change of pace for director neil labute Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member slow Alice Eve is good Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member kinda funny but the story isn't that interesting Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Bottle neck self discovery flick. Loads of cringe worth moments. Overall Meh! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews
