      Critics Consensus

Double Dragon's clever use of special effects cannot mask the film's overly simplistic storyline and cheesy dialogue.

Joe S By far my favorite Robert Patrick role (yes, more than T2). This movie is my kinda cheese, and I want more. Wish there was a sequel reprising the entire cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review ana luisa u Terribles efectos Terribles actuaciones y Terribles villanos y Terribles protagonista y personajes y Terribles peleas y mucho gringe es un 2.6 de 10 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 12/16/23 Full Review Bo R If you were a fan as a kid watching the cartoon. Then this movie was a great time . And a great look at AM in the tunnel lol. It's a fun movie to watch never boring so idk what brings all the low scores but I personally feel for the right audience THIS is a great movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/02/23 Full Review derek l Maybe this film should be renamed as a "Double Disaster." This adaption not only failed to follow the source material, but the cheesy dialogue, plot, choppy editing and pacing and wooden and stale performances made the live action film rathet clumsy. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review red t Well....it's better than the Super Mario Bros. Movie but that's not saying much, but also not as good as the 95' Mortal Kombat relatively speaking. The acting is bad, once Satori is killed the quality of the acting takes a big step down the rest of the film with the two leads feeling clueless half the time rather than charming. The cinematography is bad filled with bad over the top camera angles, cheap looking practical effects, bad CGI, and sets that don't fit well together. This can't decide set wise if it wants to go for a RoboCop type of vibe or a Kung Fu Kids Comedy half the time. The music is not good being over the top and eaggerated at worst and perfectly generic and forgettable at best. The editing is Bad along with not very good pacing. Half the time things just happen like the Boat chase or go on way too long. As stated previously this doesn't know what kind of film it wants to be and struggles for direction constantly with a bad plot. It makes you roll your eyes half the time at how stupid it is and the other half how badly its done. Skip this even if your a fan of the Video Games. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Michael S A truly rotten, awful film - cheap looking, amateurish, boring. Even worse - it does nothing with the basic premise of the video game (the machine-toting bad guy Willy kidnaps the hero's girlfriend), swapping it out for some nonsense about a medallion. Just an abysmal film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/25/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kevin Thomas Los Angeles Times [A] clever and lively adaptation of the popular video game. May 7, 2019 Full Review Brian Lowry Variety Even kids won't get much of a kick out of this high-energy, low-IQ futuristic slugfest. Apr 2, 2009 Full Review Stephen Holden New York Times An incoherent children's adventure based on a popular video game. Rated: 2/5 May 20, 2003 Full Review Mal Vincent The Virginian-Pilot The sets look like a cheapo version of Blade Runner... Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 1, 2022 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Since nothing about the film is taken seriously, there's a bit of fun to be had with the exaggerated makeup effects, pervasive sarcasm, and kung fu combat. Rated: 3/10 Sep 11, 2020 Full Review David Hogan hoganreviews.co.uk Well shot and set-dressed, but otherwise full of bad dialogue, poor acting, and so very little plot or even fighting scenes. To be avoided! Rated: 2/5 Jun 24, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews
