I'm one that can be completely satisfied with an emotional human story movie. A story of life. Doesn't have to be flashy, big moments, gigantic plot twists, etc. This is one of those movies that delivers. A story of living with tragedy and how it shapes your life and trying to live through it. I loved the the juxtaposition jumping between the younger years and the impact on the adult life. Beautiful movie. Loved it. As a father of a daughter about to head off to college I could totally immerse myself emotionally into all the characters.

Negative reviewers have no soul. That's the only explanation. As a father to two little potato chips this was very moving. There is mature content so this isn't suitable for small children but it is well written with great acting. It captures the good, bad, and ugly of life.

Ignore the bad reviews, they are just unpatient people and clearly this is not their movie type, its good having movies telling stories for an issue happening to a lot of women, like any other movies telling other types of human issues, great movie.

I am puzzled by the negative reviews! This is a tender, well written, tear jerker of a love story/drama on so many levels. Melodramatic? Perhaps a little, but I would not have used the word at all if I hadn't seen it in other reviews. You decide. The performances are extraordinary, particularly 11-year-old (at the time) Kylie Rogers as Russell Crowe's daughter, Katie. Amanda Sevfried as the adult Katie is also superb. Russell Crowe is magnetic, as usual. This is the kind of movie I wait for and look for but seldom run across. I'm glad I happened upon it.
