Audience Member For this genre, this was a thoroughly enjoyable family movie. It is not surprising that it's based on a true story. It is beautifully shot, but I'm sure the book is a far richer story is more smoothly written. Given that I'm glad I watched! The difficult choices this woman had to make are easy for anyone to fathom, who can imagine being held in captivity. She also shows how hard work and effort pay off. How can you not love that! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member a bit cheesy, but entertaining. Ellen Burstyn sounds more sweedish than dutch. Leaves out the more gruesome parts of the story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I read the book before seeing the movie, and I was very disappointed with the movie. It seemed cheesy for lack of a better word. However, the book was phenominal. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member When a young colonial woman is captured by hostile Shawnee warriors, she uses her courage and intelligence to escape with another female captive, crossing the dangerous Virginia wilderness in search of her lost home. Based on the novel by James Alexander Thom. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member An interesting film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It?s a bit too melodramatic, but it is still an entertaining film. Ellen Burstyn, as usual, delivers a fine performance. Well photographed, effective location filming in North Carolina. It is an interesting story even if it isn?t fully convincing.
