Scaachi Koul BuzzFeed News A scripted version of what happened to the actors behind these archetypal characters would have made for more compelling TV. BRizz 2 Friends: The Reunion was, in all fairness, an incredibly well-done special. It wasn’t just a documentary—it was a celebration, a time capsule, and a deeply emotional experience. With live interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, and the full original cast together again, this reunion captured the magic of Friends in a way that was powerful and unforgettable. Watching this brought a wave of nostalgia. Over the course of ten years, I grew up with these six individuals—watching them evolve from young actors into global icons and beloved characters. To see them together again was emotional beyond words. Courteney Cox has always been, and always will be, one of my favorite actresses of all time. I’ve never stopped loving her portrayal of Monica Geller—strong, hilarious, competitive, and full of heart. Her presence in this reunion reminded me exactly why I fell in love with her and the character. Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green was just as warm and captivating as ever. She continues to prove why she’s one of the most talented actresses in television history—balancing charm, vulnerability, and comedic timing with ease. Lisa Kudrow will always be Phoebe Buffay, the quirky, soulful heart of the group. Her performance over the years gave us countless iconic moments, and of course, a song that the world will never forget. Seeing her again felt like reuniting with an old friend. David Schwimmer as Ross Geller brought both depth and comedy to the group. His iconic “We were on a break!” moment remains unforgettable, and it was such a joy to see him revisit those moments with humor and pride. Matt LeBlanc truly shined as Joey Tribbiani—the lovable, hilarious, and surprisingly sweet goofball. His charm and comedic timing made Joey one of the most beloved sitcom characters of all time, and he brought that same light to the reunion. And then, of course, there’s Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing. Watching the reunion now, knowing that he has since passed, makes it all the more heartbreaking. You could see he was struggling during the special, and while some speculated about what he may have been going through, it was clear that he was doing his best. It was gut-wrenching to watch at times, but also deeply moving to see how loved and respected he was by his castmates. His contribution to Friends was immeasurable, and the show would never have been the same without his wit, heart, and vulnerability. This reunion—what they called possibly the last time they’d all be together—was both beautiful and bittersweet. Knowing that Matthew Perry is no longer with us adds another layer of sadness to it, and makes it even more poignant. If they ever do reunite again, it will never be the same without him. I can’t stress enough how much this show meant to me growing up. Friends was more than just a sitcom—it was a comfort, a constant, a part of growing up. And this reunion reminded me just how special it all was. This wasn’t just a trip down memory lane—it was a heartfelt goodbye to an era that shaped so many of us. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/06/25 Full Review Patrick B They had a chance to do a continuation of the story to show us where the characters ended up, but instead they did this glorified talk show/clip show. As if the actors haven’t done plenty of talk show appearances over the years. “But they’re all there at the same time” who cares? At least get somebody good to host, but they got James Corden of all people. What a wasted opportunity. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review Kauã M Even with all the criticism and problems, watching this is very emotional, if you do a Friends marathon and then watch this, you will feel emotional, I unfortunately took too long to see this thinking it would be bad, but after the tragedy Matthew Perry's death, I had to watch it and even though the feeling that it could have been better remains in the air, I still say that "Friends: The Reunion" is very good and worth watching.
