Tina Kakadelis Beyond the Cinerama Dome Ghostwritten is a Faustian horror story about the lengths a human will go to in order to be remembered. Feb 23, 2024 Full Review Jackie K. Cooper jackiekcooper.com Jay Duplass can't inject the quirky energy this film needs. Rated: 4/10 Feb 18, 2024 Full Review Kurt Halfyard ScreenAnarchy It is a short but slow burner of a film, one that feels like it was made in the early 90s Sundance boom-era, but possesses shadows of a premonition of the 21st century streaming micro-budget digital world that would follow. Feb 9, 2024 Full Review MontiLee Stormer MovieReelist.com I couldn’t spoil the ending if I wanted to because the mumbled and mixed soundscape made the revelation impossible to understand. I watched the last 30 minutes twice and couldn’t make heads nor tails of it. Rated: 2/5 Feb 8, 2024 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee For much of its running time, Ghostwritten gets by on that abstract weirdness. Rated: B Feb 7, 2024 Full Review Nathaniel Muir AIPT Ghostwritten may have one twist too many, but great acting and a gripping old school ghost story will keep audiences watching. Philip S A refreshing twist on the suspense/thriller genre that doesn't take itself too seriously. Worth a second viewing for all the clues you might miss the first time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Connor M Ghostwritten had me from the beginning. Jay Duplass delivers a quirky, tormented performance consistent with the tone filmmaker Thomas Matthews delivers across the film through sound, editing, and visual effects. World-weary Guy Laury (Jay Duplass) refuses to confront the plainness of his life and instead suppresses his self-disdain behind belief that he can resurrect his once-promising writing career. Eventually, his internal demons and delusions catch up to him in the claustrophobic isolation of a dreary New England island town. The story itself is a haunting and original take on mid-life crisis and a reminder to pursue life for the love of life itself. This is a worthy film on its own, and I want to see more from this promising young filmmaker. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Paul-Newell R Ghostwriting fee was unrealistic. As a professional ghostwriter, no one would accept as payment their mere soul, I can tell you that. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review Sarah S If you're up for a moody thriller, this is for you. The setting is perfect for a ghost story - a remote, desolate island off the coast of New England in the dead of winter. Great acting and perfect, fast pacing. Lots of suspense and will keep you guessing until the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
