Traveling back to his hometown, legendary lawman Frame "Saint" Johnson (Walter Huston) arrives in Deadwood, Ariz., where Poe Northrup (Ralph Ince) and his brothers, Walt (Harry Woods) and Kurt (Richard Alexander), are intimidating and bribing voters into re-electing the corrupt sheriff. Agreeing to temporarily act as town marshal, Saint tries to convince the townspeople to abide by the law, but he is increasingly unable to avoid a violent shootout with the Northrup clan.
