Even if it never manages to dig too deep below the surface, Halftime remains a glossily entertaining and inspirational portrait of a multi-hyphenate talent.

Radheyan Simonpillai CBC Radio There is an irony here that Ms. “Jenny from the Block” is trying to win sympathy by saying “Despite all my riches, I don’t have an Oscar. Life is so unfair.” Rated: 2/4 Nov 26, 2022 Full Review Dwight Brown DwightBrownInk.com In this revealing doc [Lopez's] self-confidence and enthusiasm are contagious. Rated: 2.5/4 Jul 6, 2022 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh metro.co.uk Whether you buy into her reinvention as an ethnic feminist champion, it’s hard not to be by moved by her vulnerability. Rated: 3/5 Jun 24, 2022 Full Review Damon Wise Deadline Hollywood Daily A scattershot and largely anodyne portrayal of the actress-singer that snatches enough intimate moments to just about pass muster as more than PR fluff. Sep 19, 2023 Full Review Ishita Sengupta News9 Live (India) Attempting to make us feel bad about someone whose net worth is $400 million currently is an overreach. Halftime's biggest merit resides in how close it comes to evoking that without manipulation. Rated: 3/4 Aug 25, 2022 Full Review Cristina Escobar Remezcla I was most struck by just how much of a reflection and cipher Lopez has become of Latinas at large. It’s partly that work ethic... But hard work can only do so much, which Latinas know in our bones as well. Jul 15, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Favour F One of the best documentary from celebrities Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/24 Full Review Vinny P "Halftime" is a captivating and inspiring documentary that chronicles the remarkable career of a talented Latina legend. The documentary follows Jennifer's journey from humble beginnings to international stardom (Super Bowl Halftime), highlighting the obstacles she faced along the way. From discrimination and prejudice to personal struggles and setbacks, the singer's story is one of perseverance and triumph. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Anna M L Touching documentaries journey of Jennifer Lopez and amazing performance in Half time Super Bowl.. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review John B I thought it was an interesting look into the life of Jennifer Lopez as she turns 50 and we reflect on where she came from and how she's fought for respect in her 30 year career in the USA as a singer, dancer, performer, actress in Hollywood. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Jennifer Lopez is already in her 50s and she’s still bringing her A-game being one of the biggest artists and superstars in the world Part Latina singer, part actress Jennifer got her rise to fame in the early 1990s thanks largely to her big break playing the late Selena As the years followed she continued her streak of success starring in many music videos, pouring out hit single after another, and even more movie roles As a kid J. Lo’s parents emigrated from Puerto Rico yet she still had to find her footing growing up in the Bronx; she fell in love with dance almost distracting her from an education As a result she and her mother parted ways even though she wanted her to be very independent and not rely on a man to take care of everything; the tough love is always the hardest yet necessary The majority of the public and the media know her more infamously for her beauty and her physique Plus she’s also been advocating for stories in Hollywood being more female-oriented since many roles for women of color were limited But Jennifer wants to bring something more to the table than shaking her assets on stage; she wants to bring a voice to not just her community but to her fans Heck she even speaks about the last Presidential inauguration with the wall being built between Mexico and United States with families being ripped apart dividing everyone even further Her role in 2019’s Hustlers was a big step for her telling the story about women who wanted control for a change since the system at the time was rigged and that these real-life characters were exotic dancers Most recently she opened up how unfair it was that during the 2020 Super Bowl that she followed her performance act right next to Shakira, clearly she didn’t have the time to do it simultaneously and she feels if they gave her room to breathe it would’ve felt more right The Super Bowl itself has also had a lot of pr problems when it comes to racial representation so there have been complications but J. Lo wasn’t going to let the NFL hamper her spirit to fight for human rights This documentary by Netflix reveals a more personal and honest look from the artist’s perspective handing the gossip, rumors, and internet discussions about her life Jennifer enters the second half of her years to lay bare her evolution as a Latina, a mother, and an artist, taking agency in her career and using her voice for a greater purpose This is a woman that’s been battling to be seen and heard and she wants to represent all the things that matter to her The world is listening but what is there to say?, we all need an opportunity to say something bigger, certain things as a human being you should not do, you don’t rip children away from their parents, no is not an answer it’s an opportunity, when you’re not the typical body type or traditional white American there’s certain things to expect being treated less than of value, it’s about making your own home not being someone else’s beekeeper, what is next when you don’t expect it? J. Lo being Latina and a woman she expects certain things from everyone in the spotlight commenting on her body type to being seen as a genuine American or even being used as a punchline to not be the easiest things to deal with but it gives her a chance to make real change overall She has learned way more about herself despite the rocky romantic relationships next to the tabloids This is a very honest and revealing documentary championing this woman’s heritage and embracing the disappointments that life offers despite the odds Jennifer Lopez doesn’t do it for the fame or money it’s for making significant change for everyone; not everyone can hold it together but she inspires not just women not just Latinos but for all to be the best version of themselves She’s not done yet…she’s just getting started Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/15/23 Full Review Alejandra C Absolute Must see , great documentary Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
