Idli Kadai is as straightforward film just as its trailer promised — a tearjerker with some honest ideas about legacy, served with the flamboyance of a star vehicle. Go to Full Review

Idli Kadai serves up a feel-good concoction of family melodrama, moral lessons, romance and some humour, but not all its ingredients blend smoothly. Go to Full Review

It is personal, affectionate, and anchored by committed performances. It may not break new ground in terms of story, but what it does, it does with conviction. Go to Full Review

After NEEK, Dhanush seems to have dug deeper, perhaps wishing to taste the pleasures of a comfort meal, and this film is just that. Go to Full Review

av 8 2d A tycoon—with his son being a bitter, lost cause and his daughter betrothed to our idli-shop owner Sivanesan's only son—is stuck in an acid puddle. And the remedy? Punches, kicks, gunshots, fire, and a poetic justice of a batter. Except for the below-par songs, which failed to interest me with either the music or the visuals, it actually managed to keep me thoroughly engaged for over two hours straight. There was nothing extraordinary about the shots; no commendable artistry in the making. The writing is very linear and predictable. The screen is crammed with cringe jokes and emotional scenes, which lets it be an entertainer. I was absolutely enthralled by Nithya Menon's delivery, by the way. Quite quaint a story of legacy, love, life and loss. This could be watched once. See more Sarah M Nov 25 This movie is captivating! It teaches a lot about legacy and morals. Danush acting is superb, to the extent that i was moved; smiling, angry, crying along with him. I also really love the fact that the heroine is not typical bollywood heroine. The actress portraying Kayal was really well thought and the way she played her role really resonates with us, women. She was portrayed as a strong independent woman, not adorned by jewels, but determination and bravery. Two thumbs up, worth watching! See more Harish N @harish_napa Nov 10 "Idli Kadai" (2025) is a good and emotionally significant film, primarily elevated by a truly stunning performance from Dhanush. He is completely captivating in his role, lending immense sincerity and depth to what is, at its heart, a good emotional, mandatory story. The film makes a powerful impact early on, with a first half that is nothing short of stunning. The narrative foundation is laid brilliantly, immediately pulling the viewer into the emotional world of the characters. Dhanush’s acting prowess is the central strength here, making every heartfelt beat resonate strongly. However, the movie struggles significantly with maintaining its momentum. The energy and impact of the first half give way to an average second half. This drop in quality creates an uneven experience, as the pacing becomes inconsistent and the overall narrative tension slackens. While the film has an important emotional core, the execution in the latter part doesn't sustain the brilliance of its opening. Overall, "Idli Kadai" is a cinematic experience that is worthwhile and good, particularly for its stunning emotional high points and Dhanush’s exceptional performance. It remains a valuable watch despite its narrative split. See more Jayakumar N Nov 1 This stone age comedy is a massive blunder, featuring a hero using bizarre, ancient methods to make batter. This movie suffers from a very poor story line and lacks any meaningful lesson. Why director/star Danush took on this project is baffling. It’s a top contender for the award for the Most Blunder Movie of the year. See more Lucky01 Oct 30 First half is feel good and emotionally connects to the story, but slow paced. Second half is typical hero-villain story, but engaging. Story is simple, but Dhanush’s writing and direction is good. Performance wise everyone did good, but Raj Kiran, Geetha Kailasam, Dhanush and Nithya Menen steals the show. GV Prakash’s music is good and suits the scenes. Production values are good. Overall: 3/5 Not for everyone, some may feel it lags or feels outdated See more KK Oct 3 Family entertainer with deep roots,Well done director who transform the feel & emotion from paper to screen with few flaws, Casting & their performance is good, felt light, felt home, a perfect feel good movie See more Read all reviews
