Alec B Abbott is phenomenal in the lead role and I like how the camera movements are perfectly in sync with his erratic mood swings. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Audience Member One of the best movies of my lifetime. It's extremely real and every moment felt like something that has happened to me. If you've lost a loved one this movie will relate to you in some way. Christopher Abbot continues to be one of the greatest actors of all time. 10)/10 everyone must watch once in their life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Strongest part is the relationship between mother and son, portrayed with grace and delicacy by the leads, but the rest are just wanderings and debauchery that doesn't make you care for the protagonist at all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Like the performance and close up shot to create such intense and suffocating atmosphere. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member James White is one of the scariest realistic movies I've seen in a really long time. Scary, not as in horror but as in myself coming to grips with my near future. This story brought the modern age of anxiety and being a millennial in New York today which is exactly what I am. This film had one of the best constructed opening sequences where it completes its task so efficiently in brining you inside the head of our main character. He's not a protagonist, he's not an antagonist he's just James White who has issues that he has to learn to deal with. This film had me very emotionally invested, the ending is still slightly confusing to me but it lead to me looking more into the mechanics of the film and damn do I love what they chose to do. If you want a claustrophobic, anxiety driven, highly realistic, intimate domestic drama that delves into the mind of almost every mid 20s man in New York this is the film for you. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Powerful, affecting film. Christopher Abbott is so, so good. Want to see so much more from the principal cast, writer, and director. Yay, Kid Cudi also! ?? Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Ryan Gilbey New Statesman It's not easy viewing by any means. But it is strangely refreshing for a movie to show us that terminal illness involves agony and vomit and terror, despite what Beaches might have told us. Feb 24, 2016 Full Review Suzanne Condie Lambert Arizona Republic Whether you want to spend time with "James White" depends on your tolerance for yet another film about how hard it is for guys who just feel too much. Rated: 3/5 Dec 17, 2015 Full Review Soren Andersen Seattle Times The experience of watching "James White" is like being shut up in a small, dark, airless room ... a sickroom. Rated: 2/4 Dec 10, 2015 Full Review Josh Slater-Williams Vague Visages In a way, James White is like a dark riff on the man-child formula, but it also works as a devastating exploration of death and decay. Nov 15, 2023 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson "James White" is a difficult and unflinching look at both terminal illness and wasting one's life on selfish excesses. Rated: 4/5 Sep 4, 2023 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie It gives a very brief, specific glimpse of a situation touching on the universal experience of loss, and through it delivers an incredibly strong drama.
