Audience Member This movie is laborious to watch, except for one part where it becomes Antiques Roadshow, then it's back to total boredom. I didn't care about the plot (whatever that might be) or any of the characters. Nothing that happens is compelling in any way. There's not even any nice scenery to look at. Waste of time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A rather weird little film about an empty house and an odd young man and very private billionaire, a minister that enjoys the ladies upstairs in the afternoon and fortune made by business with german evils in the 1930s. Beautiful house. not sure about the point of the film, like many other Poliakoff's work... Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Actually really good. Well cast with an interesting storyline and characters. Was amusing the way that Joe, the doorman, just accepted the strange comings and goings at the house where he worked. Sort of a feelgood film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Joe is the caretaker of an empty house. His employer doesn't live in the house as there are bad memories associated with it. During the movie with Joe's help, the owner finds out the pre-World war history of his family. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Starts out thrilling but steadily seems losing its direction. Compared to Danny Lee Wynter's lousy acting, Michael Gambon looks particularly refined in this. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member okay the main reason i watched this film was cause Gambon was in it and some big old house. the film is slow and mostly uninteresting but the relationships between the characters are the real interest eventhough they are far between. Joe himself is somewhat a retard in the sense he's a little ignorant of the world but is played well. but my main interest is Gambon's performance as a cukoo but cool billlionaire.
